SASSA Offices Banking Details Contact SASSA Check Status →Your SASSA SRD application has lapsed, been cancelled, or timed out. This is not an eligibility decline - it means SASSA no longer has an active application on file for you. You need to reapply.
SASSA has cancelled or closed your SRD R370 grant application. This can happen because the application was not renewed during a required reapplication window, or because SASSA administratively reset applications as part of a system update. The decline does not necessarily mean you are ineligible - it means SASSA no longer has your application in their active system.
Common causes: SASSA ran a compulsory reapplication window (this happened in 2022 and 2023) and your application wasn't refreshed; your application reached an internal expiry date; SASSA's system migrated to a new platform and older applications were not automatically carried over; or your application was cancelled following a period of ineligibility (e.g., you were marked as a UIF recipient) and was not automatically reinstated.
Send a WhatsApp message to SASSA on 082 046 8553 and type 'SRD'. Follow the prompts to submit a new SRD application. This is the fastest method and works 24/7.
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za and select 'Apply for the SRD Grant'. Complete the online application with your ID number, phone number, and bank account details.
The application form is also available on the main SASSA website. You will need your SA ID number, phone number you want linked, and bank account details.
SASSA's toll-free helpline can assist with applications and can provide guidance on whether an in-person visit to a SASSA office is required for your specific situation.
Unlike most other decline reasons, this one requires a new application rather than an appeal. Appealing a reapplication_required decline may not be processed. Submit a fresh application instead.
This is the one people waste the most time on, because they treat it as a decline when it isn't really one. Your application has lapsed or been closed, and the system is telling you to start again. There is nothing to appeal, because there's no decision to argue with.
I've seen people submit appeal after appeal against this code and get nowhere for months, when a fresh application would have had them paid again far sooner. If you see this code, reapply. Don't appeal.
The usual causes are a long gap where you stopped confirming your application, a change of phone number that cut you off from the system, or a scheme cycle ending. Whichever it was, the route back is the same: a new application through the official channels.
