SASSA Offices Banking Details Contact SASSA Check Status →You have been declined because SASSA's records show you are already receiving another SASSA grant - such as the Old Age Pension, Disability Grant, or Child Support Grant. The SRD R370 cannot be paid alongside most other SASSA grants.
SASSA's system has identified that you are currently receiving, or are registered for, another SASSA social grant. The SRD R370 grant is a grant of last resort and is not payable to someone who already has access to another SASSA grant - with the exception of a Child Support Grant for your child (which a caregiver receives, not the child).
SASSA cross-checks all applications against its own grant registry every month. Any person registered as a recipient of the Old Age Pension, Disability Grant, War Veterans Grant, Foster Child Grant (as a recipient, not a caregiver), Care Dependency Grant, or Disability Temporary Grant is automatically declined for SRD. Note: if you receive a Child Support Grant as a caregiver for your child, that generally does not prevent you from also receiving the SRD for yourself - but errors in the system do occur.
Log in to srd.sassa.gov.za and check your status. Then log in to the standard SASSA beneficiary portal or call 0800 60 10 11 to confirm which grants are registered in your name.
If you genuinely receive another SASSA grant, you do not qualify for SRD for the months you receive it. If the other grant has stopped, or if SASSA's records are incorrect, proceed with an appeal.
Visit your nearest SASSA office with your ID and proof that the other grant has ended (e.g., notification letter). Ask them to update your records.
Go to srd.sassa.gov.za, select the declined month, and explain in the appeal that you do not currently receive the grant SASSA believes you do. Bring documentation to your nearest SASSA office as follow-up.
Once SASSA updates its records, the next monthly check should reflect your correct status. Allow 4–8 weeks after your office visit.
Most of the time this decline is simply correct. You can't hold the SRD grant at the same time as an Old Age Pension, a Disability Grant, a War Veterans Grant or a Care Dependency Grant, because they're all means-tested support in your own name.
The exception that trips people up constantly is the Child Support Grant. That grant belongs to the child, not to you, so receiving it does not disqualify you from SRD. If you've been declined with this code and the only grant you receive is a CSG for your child, that's worth appealing and saying so directly.
The other case I see is people who were on a grant that ended - a temporary disability grant that lapsed, for example - but SASSA's records still show it as active. Get written confirmation of the end date and put it in your appeal. Without a date, the tribunal has nothing to check against.
