You must have your green ID book or smart ID card. No ID = no service. A certified copy is not acceptable at most offices.
SASSA offices are very busy. Arrive at least 30 minutes before opening to secure your place in the queue. Afternoon queues are usually longer.
Have your ID number, the mobile number on your application, and your decline reason code (if applicable) written down before you go.
