September 1 is a Tuesday, giving SASSA three clean consecutive working days to start the month. No public holidays fall in the first week, so permanent grant payments should go out on schedule without adjustments.
Heritage Day - 24 September 2026: Heritage Day falls on a Thursday this year. This is in the last week of the month - the same period when SRD R370 payments are typically scheduled. If your individual SRD payment date falls on 24 September, SASSA may move it to Friday 25 September or process it before the holiday. Check your specific date at srd.sassa.gov.za from around 15 September. If your date lands on the holiday and payment does not arrive by 26 September, call 0800 60 10 11.
SRD R370 payments are staggered individually across the last week of September. Heritage Day on 24 September (Thursday) is worth watching if your date is in that window. SASSA usually adjusts around public holidays but does not always announce this in advance.
Find your personal September payment date at srd.sassa.gov.za from around 15 September. Enter your ID number and registered mobile number. The date appears next to your "Approved" status once SASSA has scheduled your payment.
Approved but no date by 20 September? This sometimes happens when SASSA is still batching payments. Keep checking daily. If there is still no date by 26 September, call 0800 60 10 11 (free) and ask for your scheduled date.
The Heritage Day long weekend means ATMs and shopping centres will be busy from Wednesday 23 through Friday 25 September. If your SRD date falls in that period, plan accordingly - use a bank app or ATM rather than a retailer if you can.
For permanent grants (1-3 September), allow three full working days before taking action. For SRD payments near Heritage Day (24 September), allow until 26 September before following up.
