August 1 falls on a Saturday, so SASSA shifts payments to the first three working days of the month: Monday 3, Tuesday 4, and Wednesday 5 August. This is the standard SASSA adjustment when the 1st is a weekend - payments are not delayed, just moved to the next available working days.

Women's Day - 9 August 2026: National Women's Day falls on a Sunday in 2026, which means Monday 10 August is the public holiday. This is after the grant payment dates (3-5 August) and does not affect when you receive your permanent grant. However, if you are planning to collect cash at a retailer or ATM, expect it to be busier than usual around the 10 August long weekend. The SRD R370 last-week payments could be affected by the holiday - check your specific date at srd.sassa.gov.za.

SRD R370 - Your August Payment Date

SRD payments are staggered individually across the last week of August. The Women's Day long weekend (9-10 August) does not fall in the last week, but SASSA may schedule some SRD payments to avoid the following long weekend period if dates overlap. Your personal date is at srd.sassa.gov.za - it typically appears from around the 15th of August onwards.

Where to Collect Your August Payment

August has a public holiday (10 August) that will make some retailers and ATMs busier mid-month. For your grant payment in the first week, the usual advice applies - use an ATM or bank app rather than queuing at a retailer on pay day. The Monday morning of payment week (3 August) will be particularly busy at Shoprite and Pick n Pay.

What to Do if Your August Payment Is Late

The first-week payment dates (3-5 August) are straightforward and should process normally. If your payment has not arrived by the end of the third working day after your payment date:
