The 1st of November fell on a Sunday this year, so nothing could go out on the 1st or the 2nd weekend day before it. SASSA pushed the whole run to Monday. That is why Older Persons collected on the 2nd rather than the 1st, and why everything behind it moved a day as well.
November is the easiest month on the calendar for grant payments. There is not a single public holiday in it. Every other month in the back half of the year has one somewhere, and those are the months when dates slide and people start phoning the helpline. This month the run is clean from start to finish.
SRD payments do not all land on one day. SASSA spreads them across the last week of the month and gives each person their own date, which is why your neighbour can be paid on the Tuesday while you wait until the Thursday. For November that window is the 23rd to the 27th, and all five of those are ordinary working days. No holiday interruptions to worry about.
Your date is on your status page at srd.sassa.gov.za. It is usually visible from about the middle of the month. If you have never checked it, you can also dial *120*3210# from any phone without using data, or message the official SASSA WhatsApp line on 082 046 8553.
Give it the full working day first. Money often reflects late in the afternoon rather than first thing in the morning, and a bank can hold a deposit for a few hours before it shows. Most of the "my payment is missing" messages I get turn out to be payments that arrived the same evening.
If it is still not there the next working day, check your status page before you do anything else. A grant that has been declined for the month will say so there, and that is a different problem with a different fix. Our guide to decline reasons covers each code and whether an appeal is worth your time.
If your status says approved and the money still has not come, the usual culprit is banking details. An account that is not in your own name, or one that has been closed, will block a payment even when everything else is in order. You can fix that at srd.sassa.gov.za or by calling SASSA on 0800 60 10 11.
December is the month to plan for. Permanent grants go out in the first three days as usual, but the SRD window at the end of the month runs straight into Christmas, and three public holidays land in a row over that period. We have set out what that means for your date in the December payment dates article.
