South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) offers multiple payment methods to their beneficiaries for receiving their grant payments, including Bank Account, Post Office, SASSA Card, Pick n Pay, etc. However, the Bank Account is the most convenient and hassle-free way to collect SASSA grant payments.
Because you don’t have to do anything on your own, your payment will be directly deposited into your bank account linked with SASSA. Then after, you can withdraw it at the nearest ATM or Bank Branch. No need to wait in the long queues for hours, visit any office to collect payment, nothing!

How To Change Your SASSA Payment Method To Capitec?
In this article, I have shared two methods which you can use to change your SASSA Payment method to Capitec Bank, if you are SASSA SRD grant beneficiary then the first method is for you. Our second method applies to all SASSA grant beneficiaries.
Method 1: Change SASSA Payment Method To Capitec Using SASSA Portal (SRD Grant Only)
Following is the step-by-step procedure that you need to follow to change your SASSA SRD banking details to Capitec Bank:
Step 1: Open the SASSA SRD Portal
Before you start, make sure your device is connected with an active internet connection. Open your preferred browser, and access the SASSA SRD Portal via the link https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
Step 2: Navigate to “Change Banking Details” Option
Find a section with the “Change Banking Details” or “Update Banking Information” option, this will allow you to change your Banking details in the SASSA SRD Grant application.
Step 3: Enter Your ID Number and Phone Number
You will be asked to enter your valid South African ID Number and Registered mobile number to proceed to the next step.
Step 4: Complete OTP Verification
After entering your mobile number, a one-time password will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the one-time password in the field to complete your mobile verification and proceed to update your banking details in the SASSA SRD application.
Step 5: Update Banking Details to Capitec Bank
After the OTP verification, you will get a form to update your banking information to Capitec Bank. Provide all the details like account number, name, branch code etc, carefully because if you make any mistake here, then it will delay your payment.
Step 6: Review & Submit
Double-check everything you entered in the bank information update form, and check all the Capitec Bank information you provided. Once everything is done, submit the form to complete the process.
Step 7: Wait for Confirmation
Once the process is completed, you will receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number. SASSA will take a few days to review your bank account change request, and you will get an SMS notification once it is approved.

Method 2: Change SASSA Payment Method To Capitec Using SASSA Annexure C Form (for All SASSA Grants)
The above method is only for the SASSA SRD Grant beneficiaries, but this method is applicable to all SASSA grants. For this method, you need to download a SASSA Annexure C Form form and visit the nearest SASSA office. Follow the below step-by-step process:
Step 1: Download the Annexure C Form
Annexure C form can be downloaded online, or you can get a form by visiting the nearest SASSA office in your area. To download the form online, you can search SASSA Annexure C Bank Details Change form download” on Google.
If you fail to download the form, you can directly visit the SASSA office and ask their staff for the form.
Step 2: Fill Out the Annexure C Form
Now fill out the form by giving all the information asked in the form, carefully provide all the details otherwise your bank account change request will be cancelled. There will be a section in the form asking for your Banking details, enter your Capitec Bank account, Branch Code, Name, etc. But make sure you have written all the details accurately without any mistakes.
Step 3: Get the Form Stamped by Capitec
After filling out the form, visit the nearest Capitec Bank branch and get your form Stamped from the branch. This is a mandatory step, without their stamp, your form can not be submitted.
Step 4: Submit the Form at a SASSA Office
Now again visit the SASSA office to submit your stamped Annexure C form along with a copy of your South African ID card, to change your SASSA bank details. The staff may also request you to complete the biometric verification.
Step 5: Wait Patiently
Once your application is submitted, SASSA will take a few days to review your request. Once approved, you will receive a confirmation message that your SASSA Grant Bank account changed to Capitec Bank.
