1. Report A Lost Report In Policy Station
When you find that your SASSA Card is Lost, then the first thing you need to do is file a lost report at the nearest police station.
You will be asked to provide some information for filing the lost report and explain everything needed. Also, the details of your SASSA Card which is lost now, such as its card number, expiry date, etc.
Once your policy report is taken, they will provide you with the policy report. Keep that document safe because it will be needed in the replacement process.
2. Block Your SASSA Card
After filling out the police report, the next thing you need to do is block your SASSA card. This is to prevent any unauthorized transaction from your lost card. You can block your card using any of the following methods:
- Block your card by calling the SASSA helpline: You can block your card by calling the SASSA helpline at 0800 60 10 11. The call representative will ask for some details about your card, and the reason why you need to block your card. Provide everything and they will initiate the blocking process.
- Visit Nearest SASSA Office: Locate the nearest office along with your South African ID and registered mobile number. Ask their staff that your card is lost and you want to block it. They will ask you for some details, provide all the required information and they will block your card.
3. Apply for SASSA Card Replacement
Visit the nearest SASSA office for the card replacement, don’t forget to carry all the required details, such as your South African ID card, registered mobile number, and copy of your police report. When reach the office, ask their staff that your card has been lost and you want to apply for card replacement.
They will hand over you a card replacement form, and fill the form with all the required information. Once done, submit the form to the SASSA Staff. You might be charged a small card replacement fee which is around R26 for this application.
4. Collect Your New Card
You will receive an SMS confirmation when your new card is ready, by the post office. It will also include the instructions on where to collect it from. 5. Activate Your New Card
After collecting the new card, you need to activate the card. You will receive a SMS with instructions to activate your replaced SASSA card. Set a new PIN and keep it confidential.
