SASSA Card is like a normal debit card, offered by the South African Social Security Agency to make it easy for their beneficiaries to manage and withdraw their money. This card can be used to withdraw grant money from ATMs, used for online shopping like a debit card.

You can also check your Older Age Grant balance using your SASSA Card, follow the steps shared below:

  • Locate the nearest ATM in your location, and don’t forget to carry your SASSA Card.
  • Enter your SASSA Card into the ATM, it will ask you to enter your SASSA PIN.
  • You will get some options, like withdraw money, change PIN, check balance etc.
  • Now select the “Check Balance” or “Balance Inquiry” to find your old age grant balance.
  • Your old age balance will be displayed on the screen.

  • Open the WhatsApp application installed on your mobile phone.
  • Find the SASSA WhatsApp contact to initiate the chat.
  • Send a message “Status” on WhatsApp contact.
  • You will be asked to provide some information such as your reference number, registered mobile number, and South African ID number.
  • Provide all the details to complete your identity verification.
  • There will be an automated message containing some options, select the “Know Balance” or “Balance Inquiry” option.
  • Your grant balance will be received as a WhatsApp message in the Chat Window.
