Important Thing to Know Before Changing SASSA Payment Mode to ShopRite
SASSA Does Not Offer Direct Store Collection: There is no option to select your grant payment to ShopRite store selection. Instead, you can choose the Cash Send option and then select your grant payment from the chosen store.
ShopRite Money Market Account: If you do not have an account with ShopRite already, create a new one. You can create a new account from the ShopRite application.
Registered Mobile Number: Your SASSA registered mobile number is needed because you will receive a one-time password during the process, so make sure you have the registered mobile available.
Visit Nearest SASSA Office: Locate the nearest SASSA Office in your locality, you will need to visit the office, to switch the SASSA Payment Method to ShopRite Money Market.
How To Switch SASSA Payment Method To ShopRite? A Step-By-Step Guide
SASSA provides multiple payment methods for their beneficiaries to choose their most preferred method to receive their grant money. These payment methods include Bank Account, Post Office, SASSA Card, Pick N Pay, and many more. Even if you don’t have a bank account, that’s no longer a problem for you, you can receive payment using any other method other than Bank Account.
If ShopRite is the most preferred method for you to receive your grant payment, then follow the below-mentioned steps to change SASSA Payment Method to ShopRite:
Step 1: Open a New ShopRite Money Market Account
For this process, you need a ShopRite account. So, make sure you already have an account if not, then create a new account from any of the following methods:
- Dial *120*3534#: If you want to open your account through your mobile phone, just open the dial pad of your phone and press *120*3534# USSD Code to initiate the ShopRite account opening process.
- Download the ShopRite App: You can open a new ShopRite account through the official ShopRite application. Download the application from, either App Store or Play Store, to download and install the app.
- Visit ShopRite Money Market: Visit any Shoprite, Usave, or Checkers store and ask their staff if you want to open a new account, the staff will assist you with the account process.
Step 2: Get Your Bank Confirmation Letter
Once your bank account registration is completed, you will need some proof to provide to SASSA when changing your payment method to ShopRite. You can download the Bank Confirmation Letter from the ShopRite application. Or, you can download the letter from the link received in the SMS by ShopRite.
But if you opened the bank account through a Physical visit, the staff will hand over the letter when your account opening process is completed.
Step 3: Ask for the SASSA Payment Mode Switch Form
Now everything is ready to switch the payment mode, change your payment mode to ShopRite. you will need to get the Payment Mode Switch Form from any of the following methods:
- Download the payment mode form from the official SASSA portal via the link https://www.sassa.gov.za/
- You can also get the form directly from the nearest SASSA office, ask their staff if you want to change your payment mode to ShopRite and they will give you the form
Step 4: Fill Out the SASSA Payment Method Switch Form
Fill out the form by providing all the accurate information asked in the form, such as your name, the grant you are getting, residential address, ShopRite account details, etc. Make sure all the information provided is accurate and does not have any typo mistakes.
After filling out the form, attach all the necessary documents, like the South African ID number, ShopRite Bank Confirmation Letter, and all other documents required.
Step 5: Visit the SASSA Office
Find the nearest SASSA office, to submit the form. Wait in the queue for your turn and submit your SASSA payment method change request form along with all the required documents.
The Staff will process your request to change your SASSA payment method and will ask you for some other important details.
Step 6: Wait for Confirmation
Once your payment method has been successfully changed to ShopRite, you will receive an SMS confirmation on your registered mobile number. This will also include some instructions on how and where you can collect your SASSA grant from.
The payment method switching process can take up to 2 months to get done. So, you would need to wait patiently to get it done. But make sure that provide the correct details of your ShopRite account to ensure that your money is safely deposited into your account.
