Method 1: Cancel SASSA SRD Grant via the SASSA Official Portal

Step 1: Visit the SASSA Grant Cancellation Portal: The first method is going to be cancelling the SASSA grant through the official SASSA portal, so first you need to visit the portal through this link https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/reinstate

Step 2: Enter Your South African ID Number & Registered Mobile Number: On the next page, you will be asked to provide your South African ID Number along with the registered mobile number. So, carefully enter your 13-digit SA ID number and registered mobile number in the given fields.

Step 3: Enter OTP to Complete Mobile Verification: After entering the registered mobile number, you will receive a one-time password on the same number. Enter the OTP to complete the mobile verification.

Step 4: Confirm SASSA Cancellation

After entering the OTP, click on the button that says “Cancel My Grant“, and then a confirmation popup will appear asking you “Are you sure to cancel your grant application?”. So, carefully read the message and think twice, if you are sure then click on “Yes” to confirm your SASSA grant cancellation.

Step 5: It’s Done!

After clicking “Yes” to confirm the cancellation, you will immediately receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number with the subject “Your request to cancel the SASSA Grant has been sent“. That means, your SASSA Grant Cancellation request has been successfully sent to the SASSA.

On your mobile, open the Email application you always use to send emails, such as Email, Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo Mail. Once opened, click on the option that says “Compose” or “New Email” to send an email.

Step 2: Write Email

In the “To” field, enter the SASSA official email address “GrantsEnquiries@sassa.gov.za“. Next, in the subject field, write the Subject, write that you want to cancel your SASSA Grant. For example: Cancellation of SASSA Grant – [Your Name].

In the email body, explain why you want to cancel your SRD grant, clearly explain your reason which is a change in the financial situation and you now no longer need a Social Reflied Grant.
