Fix ‘Identity Verification Failed’: This status indicates a mismatch with the information provided during the SASSA application, due to typos, outdated info, or ID document issues. To resolve:

1. Double-Check Your Application Details
Before trying to fix this issue, you just need to double-check your application details and review all the information and documents you provided during your SASSA SRD application process, like:
- Full name
- Mobile number
- Address
- South African ID number
- Bank account details
Match everything and find if there is any typo mistake made unknowingly, keep your bank documents when checking the banking details, and match the account number, IFSC code, branch address, and all other details carefully.
2. Match Your Information with Home Affairs
Now, match your information provided in the application with Home Affairs, keep all your original documents in hand and match every single detail. If you made any recent changes like name change, marital status change, or any other changes, make sure that these changes (if any) are reflected in the Department of Home Affairs’ records.

3. Update Your SASSA Application
If you find any typo mistake or mismatch in the information provided in the SASSA application, then simply log into the official SASSA portal, srd.sassa.gov.za using your SA ID number and registered mobile number to update them.
Make all the necessary corrections, or if there is any issue with the unclear documents then reupload the documents with clear visibility this time. At last, double-check again before resubmitting it.
4. Appeal the Decision (Working)
You can find an appeal within 30 days from the day when you received the “SASSA SRD Status failed” notification if think that SASSA made a mistake and everything is correct on your side.
Explain the reason why you think that your application failed mistakenly, and provide all the supporting documents. This is the most effective method to fix the Identity verification failed SASSA issue.
5. Consider Biometric Verification (if applicable)
You can also consider biometric verification to complete your identity verification, SASSA might use facial recognition, fingerprint verification etc. to verify your identity. But it is not available in most cases, so talk to SASSA staff for the availability in your case.
